The architecture with standalone installation (with Polipo HTTP Proxy) is shown below:
The bundle installation architecture is shown below:
Whatever the method used for installing Tor, an HTTP proxy (e.g. Polipo) is used to redirect the traffic to Tor.
Note
Notice that the bundled installation already includes tor-ctrl, an HTTP proxy and you don't need to install Polipo.
