Threats, vulnerabilities and assets
- Assets are physical goods in a company (routers, switches, computers, etc.) and virtual goods (databases, money, secrets, etc.)
- A threat is an potential danger (virus, worms, trojans, bots, etc). A threat can negatively impact the organization's assets and can sometimes conduct to data destruction, data disclosure, data modification, etc.
- A vulnerability is a weakness in a system. If a threat is able to affect a target, this latest is vulnerable.
